Local groups, one network

Local groups, local knowledge

Each member group runs its own patch and its own projects. Together they make up the South West Goulburn Landcare network.

The two member groups

Each one holds its own meetings and sets its own program. Both sit inside the network, which is where the grant work and the facilitator’s time come from.

Glenaroua Land Management Group

Glenaroua district

Glenaroua Land Management Group formed in 1988, when Landcare was just beginning, and its members live across the lower catchments of Sunday Creek, Kurkuruc Creek, Mollisons Creek and Sugarloaf Creek. The group works on the issues that shape sustainable farming here, weed and rabbit control, dryland salinity, erosion and the loss of habitat across the district. Its best known project is the annual community tree planting run with the Manningham Rotary Club, which in June 2026 brought more than 120 volunteers to Glenaroua Station to put 3,500 native trees and shrubs in along Kurkuruc Creek. The group is DGR-endorsed, so donations are tax-deductible, and it owns a spray trailer, a tool trailer, a direct seeder and an event trailer.

Meets 3rd Thursday of Feb, May, Aug and Nov, Glenaroua CFA shed

Dabyminga Landcare Incorporated

Dabyminga catchment, Tallarook ranges country

Dabyminga Landcare grew out of the Tallarook and Reedy Creek Landcare groups, which joined forces as the Dabyminga Catchment Cooperative so they could pool their equipment, share what they knew and get more done together. Anyone who lives or owns land in the Dabyminga catchment can join, which takes in Tallarook, Broadford, Reedy Creek and everywhere in between. The group's longest-running work is blackberry control on road reserves, public land and private property, alongside revegetation and the care of the Tallarook Arboretum, a public planting of species that were useful to the Taungurung people. In early 2025 members voted to incorporate, and the group became Dabyminga Landcare Incorporated and a registered charity.

Meets Working bee and meeting every few months, usually a Sunday morning at the Tallarook Arboretum, opposite the Mechanics Institute. AGM in November. Dates go out to members by email.
