Terms of use

Using this website

The plain terms on which this site is offered, what we can and cannot promise about the information on it, and what happens to material you send us.

Who runs this site

This website belongs to South West Goulburn Landcare Network Inc., ABN 16 096 892 211, registered association A0053125F, of 113 High St, Broadford VIC 3658. Using the site means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. Our privacy policy covers what happens to information you give us and forms part of these terms.

The information on this site

It is put together in good faith by volunteers and one part-time facilitator, and we keep it as accurate as we can. We cannot promise it is complete, current or right for your situation, and we do not give any warranty to that effect beyond what the law requires of us.

Grants deserve their own warning. Opening dates, closing dates, amounts, eligibility and the rules about what the money can be spent on are all set by the funder, and funders change them, extend them and pull them without telling us. What you read on the Grants Hub is our summary at the time we wrote it. Always check the funder’s own guidelines and application form before you spend time on an application or rely on a deadline.

The same caution applies to the practical material: notes on species, weeds, pest control, fencing, soil and burning are general information for this district, not advice about your paddock. They do not replace advice from an agronomist, a vet, your local council, the Catchment Management Authority or whichever authority regulates the thing you are about to do.

Links to other sites

We link out to funders, agencies, member groups and other organisations because the link is useful. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for what is on them or what they do with your information, and a link is not an endorsement.

Member accounts

If you hold an account, give us accurate details and tell us when they change, because a wrong address means a lost invoice and a wrong phone number means a missed planting day. Your password is yours. Do not share it, and tell us straight away if you think somebody else has it, since what happens under your login is taken to be you.

We can suspend or close an account, and remove material posted through it, where the site is being misused. That covers harassment, posting material that is not yours to post or is unlawful, attempts to get at other people’s records or the administration pages, and automated scraping or anything else that loads the site up. We will normally tell you why and give you a chance to sort it out, unless the problem is serious enough that we should act first.

Material you send us

This means RSVPs, booking requests, messages, photographs, captions, articles and anything else you lodge through the site. By sending it you are telling us it is yours to send, or that you have the permission of whoever it belongs to, and that publishing it will not breach anyone’s rights.

You keep ownership of your own work. You give the network a licence, free of charge, non-exclusive and worldwide, to store the material, to edit it for length, clarity and size, and to reproduce and publish it while running and promoting the network’s activities. That includes this website, the newsletter, reports back to funders, grant applications, printed material, displays at events and the network’s social media accounts. The licence runs for as long as the material is useful to the network, and it lets us keep an archival copy of what we have already published.

Photographs are only published after someone has reviewed and approved them, and the published copy is stripped of the camera’s embedded location data. We are not obliged to publish anything you send, and we may decline or remove material without giving a reason. If you change your mind about something we have published, email us and we will take it down from anywhere we control. We cannot recall a newsletter that has already gone out, unprint a flyer, or pull back something a third party has already shared.

Payments are simulated at the moment

Membership fees and donations shown on this site run through a simulated checkout while the committee settles the network’s payment arrangements. Pressing a pay button records an entry against your account and marks it as simulated. No money changes hands, no card or bank details are asked for or held, and a record marked as simulated is a demonstration: it is not a receipt, not proof of payment, and not a tax-deductible donation receipt. Real payments and real receipts are arranged with the treasurer until this changes, and we will say so plainly on this page and at the checkout when it does.

What we can be held to

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right, guarantee or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded by agreement. Those rights stand whatever this page says.

Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows, the network, its committee members, its staff and its volunteers are not liable for loss or damage arising out of using this site, relying on information published on it, or the site being unavailable or wrong, including a missed grant deadline, a lost funding opportunity, lost data, or loss caused by something a linked site did. Where we are entitled to limit rather than exclude liability under a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to supplying the relevant service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

Field days and plantings happen off this website and are covered by their own arrangements. Telling us you are coming does not change the safety instructions or waivers that apply on the day.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, and the courts of Victoria have jurisdiction. If a court finds part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest keeps operating.

Changes and getting in touch

We change these terms from time to time. A change takes effect when it is published here, and the version on this page is the one that applies. Last updated 10 August 2026.
